Silicon Market Analysis (May 27, 2024-June 2, 2024)

Silicone

The transaction price of DMC stabilized this week under the circumstances of silicone monomer producers hoping to raise prices and the end-users having weak demand. The prices of silicon metal and methyl chloride were stable. The production cost of DMC was raised. In the week, the prices of OH polymer, gum, HCR and silicone fluid were in stability. Considering the new capacity to be released by silicone monomer producers and the gradually increasing inventory in the end-users, the silicone market price, in the short period, is likely to be low, followed with the further falling in the future.

Fumed silica

This week, the domestic fumed silica market ran steadily, with the stably actual transaction price. The prices of monomethyltrichlorosilane (MTCS) and silicon tetrachloride (STC) dropped slightly due to the enough supply. In the week, the enterprises of silicone rubber, coatings and others bought fumed silica on rigid demand. In view of the balance relationship between supply and demand, the fumed silica market price is expected to continue to consolidate.

Silicon metal

The price of silicon metal spot kept stable this week. From the aspect of supply, new released capacity coupled with the production resumption of silicon metal producers in Sichuan Province saw the supply increase. About the demand, as silicone monomer factories in northern China reduced the operating rate, while those in the Southern China raised their operating rate, they had the stable demand for silicon metal. Polysilicon companies needed less silicon metal due to reductions in the output. Currently, the price of silicon metal fell owing to the oversupply.

Polysilicon

This week, the market price of polysilicon fell slightly with hardly few transaction volume. It’s known that the abnormally low transaction price goes against its actual production cost, causing more polysilicon producers in operation not selling their products, and the ones in overhaul stopping selling temporarily. Under the macro-environmental impact, more and more leading polysilicon enterprises shut down their plants to stabilize the market price of polysilicon.
