Silicon Market Analysis (Mar. 11, 2024-Mar. 17, 2024)

Editor:ACMI-Silicon Mar-19-2024

The transaction price of DMC dropped this week, owing to the decreasing demand in the end-users and the relatively high operating rate in the silicone monomer producers. The production cost of DMC reduced. In this week, the real prices of OH polymer, gum, HCR and silicone fluid were lower compared with the previous week due to the cost reduction. It is released that the leading silicone monomer producers will overhaul their plants. In the meantime, the users will had less demand. It’s expected that the silicone market price is inclined to stay relatively low in the near future.

The domestic price of fumed silica presented stability this week. The prices of monomethyltrichlorosilane (MTCS) and silicon tetrachloride (STC) rose moderately because of the tight supply. In the week, the producers of RTV rubber and HCR operated normally and they purchased fumed silica on the rigid demand, with the limited market transaction volume. The fumed silica market price is projected to be stable in the short term.

This week, the price of silicon metal spot fell slightly. In respect of the supply, the producers in northern China supplied more silicon metal than those in the southern region. With respect to the demand, the silicon metal demand of silicone monomer firms increased, which is supported by the existing contract orders. Polysilicon enterprises had the increasing demand for silicon metal due to the capacity released gradually. Aluminium alloy companies were in stable needs for silicon metal with the production resumption.

This week, the price of N-type polysilicon stabilized, while that of P-type one fell slightly, with a few transaction volume. Overall, only partial enterprises completed contract orders for March 2024. The major N-type polysilicon producers signed orders at a stable price. The small- and medium-sized P-type polysilicon companies signed their orders at a lower price. The leading P-type polysilicon manufacturers reduced the operation rate. The granular polysilicon was in a few demand.
