Silicone
This week, the transaction price of DMC stopped falling and rebounded due to the rising price of raw materials, the reducing output of silicone monomer producers and the growing demand in the downstream sectors. The price of silicon metal kept rising, and that of methyl chloride stayed stable. The price of methanol adjusted moderately. The production cost of DMC was raised. In this week, amid the slightly increasing price of raw materials, the prices of OH polymer, gum, HCR and silicone fluid all stabilized. In the case of increasing production cost, reducing supply of silicone monomer and increasing demand from the downstream players, the silicone market price is slated to go up a bit in the short term.
Fumed silica
The domestic fumed silica market showed stability this week. The enterprises offered almost unchanged prices. In view of raw materials, the prices of monomethyltrichlorosilane (MTCS) and silicon tetrachloride (STC) were down slightly compared with the previous week. Amid the reduction in operation rate of silicone monomer producers, the price of MTCS fluctuated slightly. In the week, the producers of RTV rubber and HCR implemented relatively low operating rate as the fumed silica that they bought at a lower price before was almost consumed. With the stable production cost and the sluggish demand from the downstream sectors, the fumed silica is predicted to consolidate in the near future.
Silicon metal
This week, the price of silicon metal spot rose overall. With respect to supply, the current Cold Wave across China influenced the transportation of raw materials and furnace conditions in some regions, but also resulted in some silicon metal plants in Xinjiang region to shut down. Moreover, the power control policy in Inner Mongolia affected the normal production of a few silicon metal producers there. In short, the supply reduction of silicon metal exceeded expectations. Considering demand, the polysilicon producers released new capacity and had no overhaul plan even if the price of polysilicon fell, increasing the demand of silicon metal. The silicone price stayed relatively low, while that of aluminium alloy increased slightly, driving the silicon metal demand. The price of silicon metal is projected to keep rising to a slight extent in the near future.
Polysilicon
The price of N-type polysilicon remained stable, while that of P-type one dropped slightly this week. The majority of enterprises completed contract orders for this December. Currently, the downstream players have growing demand for N-type polysilicon, even a few contracts are signed at a higher price or in long-term supply. The N-type polysilicon price was rising firmly due to the short supply. However, P-type polysilicon price couldn't keep rising due to the high price raising production cost in the downstream sectors. The P-type polysilicon is surplus. It’s anticipated that, in the short period, the price of N-type polysilicon would stabilize, and that of P-type one should fall slightly.
