Silicon Market Analysis (Nov. 27, 2023-Dec. 3, 2023)

Silicone

The transaction price of DMC fell narrowly this week because of the sluggish terminal demand. The price of silicon metal stabilized. The price of methyl chloride dropped while that of methanol rose to a narrow extent. The production cost of DMC was raised. In this week, under the falling price of raw materials, the price of OH polymer was down, those of gum and HCR were stable overall, and that of silicone fluid partially fell. In the case of the weak demand for silicone and the expanding production reduction in silicone monomer producers, the silicone market is projected to remain stable with the slightly falling price.

Fumed silica

This week, the domestic fumed silica market showed consolidation. The enterprises unchanged their quotations. In terms of raw materials, the price of monomethyltrichlorosilane (MTCS) continued to be down as its undersupply was eased. The price of silicon tetrachloride (STC) was stable. In the week, the downstream producers of RTV rubber and HCR bought fumed silica in accordance to their needs, with the less transaction volume. Amid the increasing production cost of raw materials and the weak demand in the downstream sectors, the fumed silica is slated to fluctuate in the near future.

Silicon metal

The price of silicon metal stabilized overall this week. On the supply side, silicon metal producers in southwest China continued to reduce their production. Those in northern China operated normally. On the demand, the polysilicon enterprises intended to purchase silicon metal at a lower price as the price of polysilicon fell. Silicone producers increased the production reduction. As for aluminium alloy, the downstream players purchased it on rigid demand, rendering less transaction volume. In the short term, the price of silicon metal may present stability, focusing on reducing production in the southwest region and the photovoltaic installation progress at the end of year.

Polysilicon

The falling polysilicon price lasted throughout this week. In November, the polysilicon firms operated normally, some of which still had new capacity released. The output of polysilicon maintained an increase. The ingot monomer producers raised production to some extent, increasing a few demand for polysilicon. However, the polysilicon was still in oversupply. Accordingly, the polysilicon price may be declining in the short period.
